What does the Private checkbox mean for Uploads?
The Private option is only available for GM Pro, SDS Management and Chemical Management accounts.
If you are unable to locate the safety data sheets you need using SDS Search and you have PDF copies of them saved on your computer, you can use the Upload feature in the global navigation Menu to submit the documents for addition to your eBinder.
The Private checkbox on the Uploads page allows you to make sure that the safety data sheet you’re uploading can only be added to your eBinder and will not be eligible to be added to the SDS Search database. This option is perfect if you’re uploading a safety data sheet that has proprietary or confidential information on it or if you’ve added additional company-specific information onto the safety data sheet.
In order to mark an Upload as Private, open the Menu in the top left corner of your account, then click on Uploads. Once on the Upload page, click Select File and choose an individual PDF that is 8MB or smaller. Then select the Private checkbox in the Document Details section.
Selecting this checkbox will make the Upload private. Only users from your company will be able to view this safety data sheet – it will only be added to your eBinder.
Note that in order to mark an Upload private, you cannot select “Upload without document details”. Additionally, only single file Uploads can be marked Private.
Private uploads are not eligible for Upload Credits.
Marking the document Private will not affect your ability to receive Auto Updates.
Uploaded documents marked Private still go through the VelocityEHS quality assurance review process and, if they do not meet our criteria, may still be marked Incomplete and not added to your eBinder.
