Why doesn’t the Company Link work when I click on it from a Microsoft Office product?
Was this helpful?
Thanks for your feedback!
Due to security encryption that VelocityEHS applied to all General User Site links (also known as Company Links), Microsoft Office cannot route employees to the URL when clicking on the link within an Office document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
Rather than compromise the security of our customers, we’ve put together the following instructions for how to make your links work when using Microsoft Office.
First, and easiest, is to instruct your employees to simply copy and paste the link into their browser, for example:
“Go to your organization’s HQ link: https://chemmanagement.ehs.com/{enter_link_here}. Please highlight this link, then copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar.”
Second, you can also update your link in the Word document to pass the encrypted link through to your browser. For example, if your Company Link is:
https://chemmanagement.ehs.com/?ID=AFE123CC-6BF6-4187-BB07-51862C19921F
you can update your link with “officeconnect.aspx” after the last slash and before the question mark:
https://chemmanagement.ehs.com/officeconnect.aspx?ID=AFE123CC-6BF6-4187-BB07-51862C19921F
Third, if you have access to a PDF writer (i.e. Adobe Acrobat), you can save your document as a PDF. Clicking on the Company Link from a PDF works smoothly.
