When are you updating my eBinder to GHS?

VelocityEHS accounts come with a built-in Auto-Update feature, through which we alert you to new safety data sheets for existing products in your eBinder. However, the alerts can only be sent, and your eBinder can only be updated, as quickly as safety data sheets become available to us.

A few of the reasons you may not see a GHS formatted SDS for a particular chemical include:

The new version of the document does not match the old document exactly.
In order for the Auto-Update feature to work correctly all of the following must match between the old and the new document:

• product name
• manufacturer name
• supplier name
• product code
• language.

If any of those do not match, then the older version will not automatically update to the newer version. We are continually working to ensure matches are made; however, it is also important that we respect the nomenclature used by the manufacturer or supplier. To assist with matching, we created Manufacturer Groups. Additionally, spaces and certain characters, such as commas and periods, are not included when determining a match between the product name or product code fields.

The manufacturer has not yet released a GHS formatted SDS.
Although we are continually working to add GHS documents to our database, we can only add them if the manufacturer has created them. As the purchaser of the product sometimes you are in the best position to contact the manufacturer and request they create a GHS formatted SDS. Once you receive it, you can use the Uploads feature to add it to your eBinder and update our master database. See Uploads for more information.

If you prefer, you can also use Requests to ask VelocityEHS to contact the manufacturer on your behalf. Again, keep in mind that we can only obtain a GHS formatted document if the manufacturer has created it. See Requests for more information.
