Active – This is the default status when creating a new container. Quantity data in the Product Inventory, on the Containers page, in Quantity Reports, Threshold reports, and elsewhere in the product is calculated based on the amount remaining in Active containers. Products cannot be marked as Not In Use at or removed from a location that has an Active container.
Inactive – This status indicates that the container no longer has any product in it. When you mark a container Inactive the amount remaining automatically changes to zero. Inactive containers are not included in any reports nor are they included when calculating quantities or thresholds. However, if running a report that includes a date range, and if the report’s date range overlaps with any dates during which a container had the status of Active, then the container will be included in that report, even if it is presently marked Inactive or Waste. You cannot edit an Inactive container, but users with the right permissions can change its status back to Active. If you change it back to Active, the quantity remaining will revert to the last non-zero amount.
Waste – Waste indicates that the container is ready to be disposed of and sets the amount remaining to zero. Waste containers are not included when calculating quantities or thresholds. Waste containers are only included in the Waste Report. However, if running a report that includes a date range, and if the report’s date range overlaps with any dates during which a container had the status of Active, then the container will be included in that report, even if it is presently marked Inactive or Waste.
