Reorganizing your Location Tree may require moving an active location to a new position. This can be done either within the same level or by moving it to a different level. Follow the steps below for each scenario.
Moving a Location to a Different Position within the Same Level
- Select Admin > Location > Location Tree.
- Select the Display Tree in Edit Mode checkbox to enable editing.
- Click and drag the location you want to move to the name of its new parent location. Ensure that the new parent location has the same level indicator color as the previous parent location to keep the location on the same level.
Note:
No additional steps are needed to save the changes. If the new parent location is at a different level (with a different indicator color), see Moving a Location to a Different Level (below).
Moving a Location to a Different Level
If the location has no records associated with it, follow these steps:
- Select Admin > Location > Location Tree.
- Select the Display Tree in Edit Mode checkbox to enable editing.
- Right-click on the location you want to move and select Archive from the options to remove the location.
- Create a new location with the same name under the desired parent location.
If the location has records associated with it, contact Support for assistance with moving the location to a different level.
Warning
Be cautious when moving child locations to new parent locations, as the old parent locations may have audit templates, training requirements, or compliance requirements associated with them. Moving a child location means it will no longer “see” these templates or requirements. After moving, manually relocate the templates and requirements to the new appropriate location so that users will be able to find them.
