AI PSIF (Potential Serious Injury or Fatality) Insights in Accelerate uses machine learning to help identify incidents or near misses that could have resulted in serious harm. This demo will walk you through how the feature works and introduce the three tools that power it: the AI Description Analyzer, AI PSIF Insights, and AI PSIF Insights Notifications.
These tools work together to improve incident documentation, highlight potential high-risk events, and keep key team members informed — all within your existing workflow.
Feature Availability
AI PSIF Insights are available to all customers using the Incident Management module in the Safety solution on Accelerate. However, access depends on your customer type:
- Customers who joined before July 1: PSIF is off by default and must be manually enabled.
- Customers who joined after July 1: PSIF is turned on by default.
Prerequisites
To use the PSIF feature in your platform the following must be true:
- Incident Management module is enabled
- PSIF feature is turned on for your organization
- User roles must have access to submit or investigate Incidents or Near Misses
Once active, users will begin seeing the new AI Description Analyzer and AI PSIF Insights options during incident reporting and investigation.
Feature Enabling
The AI Description Analyzer helps you write stronger, more complete incident descriptions but it is also a required step in order to use the AI PSIF Insights Ask Velo button.
To receive AI PSIF Insights, the following must be true:
- You have submitted a description for the Incident or Near Miss
- You have selected Ask Vēlo to analyze the description
- Your Description Strength score is 3 or higher
A higher score ensures there is enough detail for the AI to evaluate the incident and provide meaningful insights. You can still manually identify PSIFs at any time, even if you choose not to use the AI tools.
Roles and Visibility
Once the feature is enabled:
- Workers reporting incidents will see Ask Velo in the First Report
- Investigators will see additional tools to help them determine whether the record is a PSIF
- EHS Managers and Leadership may receive email notifications when a record is identified as a PSIF
No additional user permissions are required to access the feature, as it is based on existing access to incident records.
What You’ll See
- An Ask Velo button will appear under the Description field of Incident and Near Miss First Report records
- Once , an AI PSIF insight button is unlocked for investigators
- Additional triggers are available when setting up Incident notifications for PSIFs
Note
The PSIF feature is only supported for the default Incident and Near Miss categories. It does not appear for Hazard IDs or custom categories.
