March 2025
Summary
Work was done this month on performance improvements and system fixes.
Application release version and date information:
- v1.25.0 on March 31, 2025
February 2025
Highlights
- Tier II Reporting
- The ‘Tier II Reporting Threshold’ now displays a maximum of 500 lbs in the Tier II Threshold Report for EHS Chemicals
- For EHS chemicals, the value of 500 lbs or the lowest threshold value will be displayed in Chemical Management
- Tier II Reporting Impacts to note
- If a customer relied on the “over/under threshold” column of the Threshold report, or utilized the Tier II form and did not manually change any Tier II chemical from using the lower threshold to upper threshold, then all their Tier II reports have been accurate and will continue to be accurate.
- If a customer ever assigned a chemical to their eBinders and they manually switched the lower threshold to the upper threshold, then there is a chance you will need to rerun the report/form. This is because the system would have determined threshold values by using 500 lbs, instead of the lower threshold, for any affected chemicals. If you rerun the report/form after February 13th, all previous data will use the appropriate threshold.
- If a customer used the ‘Tier II reporting threshold’ column to determine their Tier II chemical thresholds — and ignored the over/under threshold column of the report — then you may have used incorrect data and would need to rerun the report after February 13th, when all historical data will then accurately reflect the correct threshold.
- Other Updates

- Updated File upload checks to only allow PDF document types to be uploaded in Chemical Management

Notice of SDS/Chemical Management Branding Changes
In the coming months, you will no longer see the name MSDSonline associated with your VelocityEHS SDS/Chemical Management capability—including MSDSonline Search—which will now be called SDS Search. Please note that these are branding changes only and will have no effect on the features and functionality of your SDS/Chemical Management capability.
This update is part of our ongoing effort to bring all our capabilities under the VelocityEHS brand. Our SDS/Chemical Management capability now falls within the VelocityEHS Safety Solution. Visit EHS.com to learn more about the Safety Solution and all of the ways it can help with critical safety tasks.
The term SDS versus MSDS also represents the updated term for the more common, GHS-aligned, 16-section documents prescribed by many hazard communication regulations around the world, following the United Nations’ publication of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in 2003—including OSHA’s alignment of the HazCom Standard to GHS in 2012 and Health Canada’s alignment of WHMIS to GHS in 2015. For more information about the transition from MSDS to SDS, check out the VelocityEHS video “What is an SDS?” and visit our GHS Resource Center.

August 2022
Summary
This month our team made many great improvements and bug fixes to our Chemical Management Product. This work comes as a direct result of our customers asking for these key changes, which we were able to provide.
Improvements
- Increased SDS file upload size limit from 4MB to 8MB. This improvement allows our customers to fully have the best experience when managing the SDS (single & batch) uploads via Chemical Management.
- Improved user experience for reactivating locations by processing the location activation in the background vs. Requiring the user to wait for it to be completed.
- The ability to copy/paste in the eBinder search bar has been restored in our 9.0 update. This was a feature in the available in the 8.5 but was not transferred to the newer version. There were many customers asking for this feature to be restored to the newer version.
Bug Fixes
- eBinder documents appear duplicated when eBinder is sorted by Added By (Ascending). Now, each SDS document displays once on the eBinder page.
- An error message that was displayed when adding a first responder has been resolved. Now users who have SDS Management or Chemical Management accounts will be able to add first responders to their account. This tool provides first responders real-time access to information about the hazardous chemicals in the facility.
- In GHS (Globally Harmonized System) Container Labels the single word that displays at the top left-hand corner of the label now appears in the language that the system is translating. This is a resolution to the word not appearing and not appearing in the right language assigned.
