Define a Node

Unlike guidewords, parameters, and deviation templates, nodes are location-specific (they are not global items).  In a risk worksheet, each node represents a specific point in a process (for example, a pump, reactor, or pipeline segment) to be analyzed for potential hazards.

When you select a deviation template to use in a worksheet, you’ll select a node along with it for which you want to generate the guideword/parameter pairs.

To add a node:

1. 1. Go to Admin > (HAZOP Setup) Nodes > Add.
   2. Enter an ID, Name, and Description for the node, and an Intention describing how it’s used. A Code is system-assigned.
   3. If there are affected Assets/Equipment, select them from the list (defined in Admin > (Local Setup) Assets/Equipment).
   4. Select a Sub Area where it applies.
   5. To make the node easier to identify in a bowtie, select a Color by which it will be represented.
   6. Select the Attachments tab to include any additional documentation.
   7. Save the node.
