Assessing Impacts
Was this helpful?
Thanks for your feedback!
In the impacts tab you can complete an assessment of the impacts of the materiality topics you have selected as well as adjust the weighting assigned to the internal and external stakeholder groups.
Stakeholder weighting
The stakeholder weighting assigns a weight to each stakeholder group. If you would like the responses from internal and external respondents to be equally weighted, keep the slider set in the middle (at the 50/50 mark). Stakeholders weightings can be adjusted in case one group is significantly smaller than the other or your organization has determined the responses from one group weigh more strongly than responses from the other group.
Control Level
The control level for each topic can be assessed on a one to five scale (to maintain consistency with the survey materiality topics rating scale). The control level should indicate the amount of power/agency your organization can exert to influence the topic.
Significance
The significance is also assessed on a one to five rating scale. The significance indicates the environmental, financial, social, and otherwise impactful consequence of the topic on your organization.
Once you have assessed the control level and significance of each topic on your organization, click the save button at the bottom of the page. This ensures your assessed values are incorporated into your materiality matrix.
Materiality matrix
The materiality matrix is a visual representation of importance of each topic to your organization. The y-axis represents the importance of each topic to your stakeholders. The y-axis values are taken from the results of the materiality survey. The x-axis represents the impact of the topics on your organization. Topics with a high significance and level of control have a higher rating and appear on the right side of the matrix. Topics in the top right corner of your matrix are the most material to your organization. To export the raw data from the matrix, click the Export Matrix text at the top right corner of the materiality matrix.
